We are more than just a Teen Bar here at Silx…… Every Monday, Wednesday & Friday 12-3pm we run our 1st Step employability session. During these Award winning sessions we help young people create a CV, carry out a Job Search, fill out job applications, complete online training. Our team of fully qualified Youth Workers and our in house IAG worker are on hand every session of offer advice and provide support around issues of employability, training, money, housing, health and any other issues that the 16-25 year olds that attend the session are experiencing.
Our ultimate goal during these sessions is to help the young people get back into education or to find work but we don’t run a strict ‘classroom’ environment, instead our approach is more relaxed. The young people do use the sessions to get themselves work ready but they also come in to see friends, have a hot drink, chat to workers and a lot of young people build on their confidence and their other skills whilst they are with us….
